Mother suspect to appear in court for killing son

ONGWEDIVA, 29 OCT (NAMPA) – A 31-year-old woman from Ondangwa Town’s Epya location in the Oshana Region will appear on charges of murder and violation of a human body before the Magistrate’s Court at the town on Monday.
In a telephone interview with Nampa on Sunday, Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Oshana Region, Deputy Commissioner Hilja Haipumbu confirmed the court appearance.
Haipumbu said the incident took place between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The suspect is accused of killing her biological 10-year-old son by slitting his throat with an unknown object, wrapping the remains in a plastic bag and placing it inside her bag before dumping it by the bushes near the new Namibia Defence Force (NDF) base in Ondangwa.
Besides the slit throat, the boy was also found with his private parts removed.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday after a community member discovered the body at 11h30 the same day and alerted the Police.
