WINDHOEK, 27 MAY (NAMPA) - Brave Warriors? head coach Roger Palmgren remains committed to winning his second international match with his Namibian charges when they play Malawi in Blantyre on 05 June in a crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Announcing a 28-member senior national football squad at Soccer House on Monday, Palmgren said he is planning for victory during their Group F encounter in Blantyre.
?In every game you plan to win, and that is my plan going to Malawi and Nigeria on 12 June. We cannot look for excuses, we have to plan with what we have,? said Palmgren, referring to the absence of four key players due to injuries.
In his first match in charge of the Brave Warriors, Palmgren recorded a goalless draw against Zambia last Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Some players who will not be part of the trip to Malawi due to injuries are captain Ronald Ketjijere, Henrico Botes, Rudolph Bester, Johannes Seibeb and Heinrich Isaacs.
Oliver Risser will also not be part of the squad since he withdrew from the team due to personal reasons.
Most members of the new squad were called up for the Zambia clash, except Tangeni Shipahu and Lazarus Kaimbi.
The duo is based in Thailand, and expected to arrive in the country on Saturday, while Manfred Starke, who is based in Germany, will join the rest of the team in Blantyre on 02 June.
Palmgren stressed that it was not easy to come up with the squad since all players are good in their own way.
By Wednesday this week, the squad will be reduced to 23 players, who will travel to Blantyre. All players will, however, remain in camp until the team?s departure on Sunday.
?We have two big games, and we need all the players. So, they will all be part of the team, and give us options for replacements and improvements of the team,? said the Swedish-born coach.
It is also a chance for other players to start the match, and do their best.
In preparation, the Brave Warriors will have a match against the national under-23 team at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Wednesday, kicking off at 18h00.
Another training match is scheduled for Saturday against the national under-20 side at the same venue, with time to be confirmed later.
In their previous match against Malawi here on 23 March this year, the Brave Warriors lost 0-1.
The squad comprises: Ephraim Tjihonge (Milano United- South Africa (SA), Virgil Vries (Maritzburg United- SA), Edward Maova (Rundu Chiefs), Willem Mwedihanga (Amazulu-SA), Larry Horaeb (Ramblers), Chris Katjiukua (African Stars), Dennis Ngueza (African Stars), Freedom Puriza (African Stars), Da Costa Angula (Black Africa), Denzil Haoseb (Black Africa), Ananias Gebhard (Tigers), Emilio Martin (Ramblers), Willy Stephanus (Black Africa), Petrus Shitembi (Pretoria University), Bradley Wermann (African Stars), Bryan Bantam (Black Africa), Marco van Wyk (Black Africa), Deon Hotto (African Stars), Neville Tjiueza (Tura Magic), Pineas Jacob (Tigers), Sadney Urikhob (Civics), Panduleni Nekundi (Tigers), Harold Ochurub (Mighty Gunners), Benson Shilongo (Tigers) Roger Katjiteo (Black Africa), Lazarus Kaimbi (Osotspa-Thailand ) Tangeni Shipahu (Osotspa-Thailand) and Manfred Starke (Hansa Rostock-Germany).
