The seminar is hosted by the Namibian Embassy in Washington, USA and the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development to explore trade and investment opportunities in the areas of agriculture, oil and gas exploration, education, renewable energy, manufacturing and health.
Other potential areas of trade and investment include wildlife conservation, water purification for rural areas, public private partnerships, workforce developments and mining of minerals.
Speaking during the opening of the seminar on Monday, Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development, Immanuel Ngatjizeko said Namibia is a business-friendly nation and is dedicated to explore new areas of cooperation, trade and investment with other countries.
“Namibia is not only seeking to expand the volume of bilateral trade with the USA, but we are also promoting Namibia as a gateway for doing business with markets in the Southern African Development Community region and beyond,” he said.
Beef exports from Namibia to the USA will feature prominently during deliberations to establish more contacts with beef producers in the country.
Namibia is currently the only eligible beef exporter to the USA from Africa. The implementation date was 12 September 2016.
