Zimbabwean national arrested for attempting to bribe police officer

WINDHOEK, 22 OCT (NAMPA) – A Zimbabwean national was on Thursday arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe a police officer with N.dollars 15 000 near Sesriem.
In the daily crime report issued on Sunday, Namibian Police Force spokesperson Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said the man was found to be operating as a tour guide under false pretences that he was registered with the Namibia Tourism Board.
He was arrested some 12 kilometres from Sesriem, close to the Namib Naukluft Park in the Erongo Region.
Shikwambi said the suspect allegedly offered the officer money after it was detected that he was operating under false pretences.
In the same region, a 42-year-old man was arrested at the Swakopmund roadblock on Friday after he was found in possessions of 75 grams of cannabis valued at N.dollars 750.
The suspect will appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
