OPUWO, 21 OCT (NAMPA) – Swapo’s Kunene Region members endorsed President Hage Geingob for the party’s presidency to be elected at the sixth party congress in November.
Speaking at a media conference here on Friday, Swapo Coordinator in the Kunene Region, Tuarungua Kavari confirmed that the region’s party members support Geingob; Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah for vice-president; Minister of Urban and Rural Development Sophia Shaningwa for secretary-general and former Deputy Prime Minister Marco Hausiku for deputy secretary-general during the upcoming congress.
“We believe that these leaders are loyal, dedicated, committed, selfless leaders who have proven themselves,” said Kavari.
He said they reject any undertones in any leadership that smacks of tribalism, ethnicity, chauvinism, regionalism, entitlement, greed and corruption.
“We believe in one centre of power because we have seen its benefits and advantages over the years,” he noted.
At the same occasion, the party also welcomed back Amon Kazahora Kapi, who left Swapo in 2007 to join the Rally for Democracy and Progress.
In interview with Nampa, Kapi said he went back to Swapo to ‘serve the nation’.
“We have to serve the nation, so if you see there is no progress where you are, then you have to move to make progress,” he said.
