Suspects arrested for dealing in drugs

WINDHOEK, 20 OCT (NAMPA) – The Hardap Region police are investigating a case of rape after a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted, allegedly by a 21-year-old man between September and October this year.
The daily crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) Public Relations Division on Friday said the incident occurred at the Gomxab-naus location in Gochas.
The suspect has been arrested.
In an unrelated incident at the Onathinge village in the Oshikoto Region, an 11-year-old boy was raped on his way from school by two teenagers, aged 13 and 17.
The suspects are known but have not yet been arrested.
The incident is said to have occurred between 15 and 17 October this year.
Meanwhile, NamPol recorded a number of successes in the apprehension of criminals.
In one such matter, five men were on Thursday arrested at the Takarania residential area in Mariental and charged with one count each of dealing in drugs and for having been found in possession of drugs.
They were found in possession of one full Mandrax tablet, nine half Mandrax tablets, 22 quarter Mandrax tablets, two small parcels of cannabis and N.dollars 80 in cash.
The value of the items is yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested after he was found in possession of a zebra carcass valued at about N.dollars 5 000 at the Otijorute village in the Kunene Region on Thursday.
It is alleged that the suspect used a manmade trap to hunt the animal and kill it using a spear and panga.
In another case, two men, aged 41 and 44, were on Thursday arrested, while three of their accomplices are still on the run, after they were found in possession of an oryx carcass valued at N.dollars 4 000.
The carcass was discovered when their vehicle was searched during a police operation at Farm Albrechtshohe in the Karibib area.
The vehicle was impounded and the search for the accomplices continues.
