ONGWEDIVA, 18 OCT (NAMPA) - A teacher from Kanyolo Primary School near Ondangwa died on Sunday after being involved in an accident.
Charles Hendrick’s pick-up overturned on the Ondangwa-Oshikango main road earlier that day.
Sergeant Abner Kaume Iitumba of the Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) Public Relations Unit in the region told Nampa on Wednesday the 42-year-old Hendrick and his wife, Angelika Ndapanda were involved in an accident around 15h40.
They were driving to the Ongha settlement from Ondangwa when one of the pick-up’s tyres burst and the car left the road and overturned.
The couple sustained serious injuries.
“They were transported to the Onandjokwe Hospital by private ambulance,” said the daily crime report on Wednesday.
The same report indicates that Hendrick was in possession of a firearm, a 9mm pistol Norinco, which disappeared from the accident scene.
He died on Sunday and Ndapanda has been transferred to the MediPark Private Hospital at Ongwediva.
The next of kin of the deceased have been informed.
