Child drowns in bucket of water in Oshana Region

WINDHOEK, 18 OCT (NAMPA) – An 18-month-old boy drowned in a bucket of water at the Okapembe village in the Oshana Region on Monday.
The daily crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Wednesday said Efraim Nadhipite drowned at a family homestead at around 17h45.
Information on whose care the toddler was left in at the time of incident is not available.
Police investigations continue.
At Dordabis in the Khomas Region, a man aged 25 was arrested after being found in possession of 10 Mandrax tablets on Monday at around 20h00.
The value of the tablets has not yet been determined and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the police in the Oshikoto Region have reported a case of reckless and negligent driving after five people sustained serious injuries in an accident on the Oshivelo-Tsumeb main road on Tuesday.
The injured passengers included a three-month-old baby and a two-year-old child.
The driver of a mini-bus allegedly tried to avoid a head-on collision with a truck when he lost control of the vehicle.
All injured persons were admitted to the Tsumeb State Hospital.
