WINDHOEK, 05 OCT (NAMPA) – The Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare has cancelled the planned popularisation workshop on the Blueprint on Wealth Redistribution and Poverty Eradication for the Kunene Region.
The workshop was scheduled to take place on Monday at Opuwo, the regional capital of Kunene.
In a brief media statement on Thursday, the ministry said it cancelled the workshop in honour of the late governor of Kunene, Angelika Muharukua, who died on Sunday.
“In paying tribute to her and in respect of mourning, the ministry regrets to announce the cancellation of the Popularisation Workshop on the Blueprint on Wealth Redistribution and Poverty Eradication,” the ministry announced.
Similar workshops have already taken place in Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region and Rundu in Kavango East.
The blueprint contains cross-cutting sectoral strategic priority areas that will be implemented by all ministries, agencies and state-owned enterprises.
The objectives of the countrywide workshops are to inform stakeholders of the blueprint and its implementation plan; to seek stakeholder buy-in in the activities contained in the implementation plan and to forge collaboration with stakeholders and enhance coordination of the activities under the implementation plan.
A new date for the Kunene workshop is yet to be announced.
