WINDHOEK, 04 OCT (NAMPA) - The Swapo Party Youth League has requested President Hage Geingob, through the politburo, to avail preferred candidates for the top three Swapo party positions.
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, SPYL Secretary for Information, Publicity and Mobilisation, Dumeni Lineekela said the youth league will rally behind the chosen candidates for the positions of party's Vice-President, Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General at the oncoming 6th Congress in November.
The Swapo party Politburo will convene on Friday.
“Without fear or favour, we will ensure that the wishes and aspiration of the majority of our people are realised in your time” noted Lineekela.
The SPYL endorsed President Geingob as its sole candidate for the Swapo Party presidency during their congress end of August this year in Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.
On its part, SPYL Secretary-General Ephraim Nekongo added that the youth wing will support the candidates as pronounced by the politburo.
Nekongo further said that they have nominated candidates from the youth league, who they hope to be part of the party Central Committee.
“What we are asking our leaders is to also support us so that we ensure that young people emerge at that platform” Nekongo explained.
He explained that injecting fresh blood into that platform would assist in developing and alleviating some of the challenges the country faces.
