OTAVI, 04 OCT (NAMPA) - Twenty people with disabilities from Otavi and Kombat in the Otjozondjupa Region on Tuesday received new wheelchairs from Ohorongo Cement.
Ohorongo’s Managing Director (MD), Hans-Wilhelm Schütte handed over the wheelchairs to Otavi Mayor, Martha Shipanga at the town’s clinic.
Schütte said the 20 wheelchairs were donated by non-profit organisation Support e.V. based in Ulm, Germany.
“This is not the last time. Tell us your needs so that we can assist you where possible,” he said.
The donation, worth N.dollars 100 000, was done through the Ohorongo-Otavi Community Trust as part of its social corporate responsibility.
Shipanga said her office will distribute the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries.
Speaking on behalf of the community members, Maria Nghipandulwa thanked Ohorongo Cement for the donation.
Responding to Schütte’s request, she said the Otavi residents would also appreciate an ambulance.
“But we will sit down and list our needs and forward them to your office,” Nghipandulwa said.
