Man allegedly fatally shoots girlfriend in Otjomuise

WINDHOEK, 02 OCT (NAMPA) – A 29-year-old woman was fatally shot by her boyfriend at their flat in Windhoek Monday morning.
The incident occurred at around 06h30 in 7de Laan, in Windhoek’s Otjomuise residential area.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told Nampa upon enquiry on Monday the deceased, Maria Megameno Kamati and the 41-year-old suspect allegedly had an argument.
The suspect then allegedly shot Kamati in the head with a nine millimetre Makarov pistol.
“The suspect drove to the Windhoek Police Station to report the matter but was involved in an accident after his vehicle left the road and hit a pavement,” she said.
The suspect took a taxi to the police station and notified the police of the incident.
Shikwambi further indicated that police officers found the deceased’s body lying on their bed with a gunshot wound to the head.
The couple were reportedly in a nine-year relationship and had two children.
The weapon used during the incident was found at the scene and confiscated.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
