Kanovlei Primary School receives mattresses and pillows

TSUMKWE, 28 SEP (NAMPA) - Kanovlei Primary School in the Tsumkwe Constituency on Wednesday received 60 mattresses and 60 pillows for pupils accommodated in the community hostel.
The donation worth N.dollars 20 000 came from Hand-in-Hand for Africa.
This German-based non-profit organisations mandate is to rebuild communities through different social programmes in order to alleviate poverty in Africa.
Representative for Hand-in-Hand for Africa, Tewie Bronkhorst, handed over the mattresses and the pillows to the school.
Today again we are here to hand over mattresses and pillows to the community hostel school of Kanovlei in Tsumkwe east, he said.
Bronkhorst said his organisation will continue to renovate the Kanovlei community hostel kitchen and school library, starting October.
Kanovlei has mostly San inhabitants. It is situated about 170 kilometres east of Grootfontein in Tsumkwe Constituency of the Otjozondjupa Region.
Otjozondjupa Regional Governor, Otto Ipinge received the donation on behalf of the Namibian Government and the hostelites.
Ipinge thanked Hand-in-Hand for Africa and urged corporate companies to emulate their good example and donate shoes and food items to assist the impoverished learners in the Tsumkwe Constituency.
School Principal Deon Louw said the school offers primary school up to Grade 6, and has 150 learners and eight teachers. About 70 learners are accommodated in the hostel.
