RUNDU, 25 SEP (NAMPA) – The body of the 21-year-old woman, Elizabeth Pandu Ndara who drowned at the Sauyemwa ‘Bikini Beach’ on Saturday has been recovered.
Her body was found not far from where she drowned by members of the public who went swimming on Monday.
Detective Chief Inspector of the Namibian Police at Rundu, Ewald Kavara told Nampa on Monday the body was recovered at around 13h00.
It is suspected that Ndara was swimming while under the influence of alcohol.
Kavara cautioned members of the public to stay away from the river when under the influence of alcohol.
“Even though it is summer time and the river level has gone down there are still parts that are very deep and the public should also refrain from swimming there and rather have fun at shallow parts,” he said.
