One life lost in vehicle collision in Oshikoto Region

OSHAKATI, 25 SEP (NAMPA) – A 60-year-old resident of the Onyati village died on the spot on Sunday evening after the pick-up he was driving collided with a truck on the road between Ondangwa and Omuthiya.
The incident was confirmed in a daily crime report on Monday by Oshikoto Region Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua.
The deceased has been identified as John Kaukomenwa Mwandingi.
It is alleged that he was trying to turn off the road when his vehicle was struck by a truck that was in the process of overtaking it. Both vehicles were driving from Omuthiya to Ondangwa.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
The two passengers in the pick-up, who are relatives of the deceased, sustained injuries and were admitted to the Onandjokwe and Omuthiya State hospitals, respectively. The driver and passenger of the truck escaped unharmed.
In an unrelated matter in the same region on Sunday, the body of 36-year-old Johannes Kapia was found hanging on a tree at the Ohainete village, with a noose made from palm leaves around his neck.
The body was discovered at around 18h00 in the mahangu field of the deceased’s neighbour, who informed the police.
No suicide note was left and his next of kin were informed.
