Six-year-old boy dies after he was hit by car in Eenhana

OSHAKATI, 20 SEP (NAMPA) - A six-year-old boy died after being run over at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region on Monday.
The daily police crime report issued on Wednesday said Nghuumbu Shange died after being run over by a 64-year-old driver while he was crossing the road to go home from school.
The accident occurred on the Onhono-Eenhana main road at the Eenyika Village.
A case of culpable homicide is now being investigated.
Shange succumbed to his injuries in the Oshakati State Hospital on the same day.
The deceased’s next of kin were informed and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday at Tsumeb’s Kuvukiland informal settlement for reportedly raping a 10-year-old girl.
It is alleged that the suspect, who lives at the victim’s grandmother’s house, was asked to take care of the girl and her brother by their mother while she went somewhere Friday evening.
He then reportedly asked the boy to go to sleep before having sexual intercourse with the victim.
Police investigations are underway.
The police also confirmed the postponement of the rape case of accused, Jordan Kondjeni Thomas.
Thomas appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and the case was remanded to 14 December 2017 for further investigations.
He stands accused of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter several times between December 2016 and August 2017.
