Secretary for Swapo Party Elders Council dies

WINDHOEK, 01 NOV (NMAPA) – Swapo Party Secretary for Elders Council Frederick Matongo dies.
Matongo, 67, died at Windhoek’s Rihno Park Hospital at around 10h00 on Friday after a long illness.
Swapo Party Deputy Secretary for Elders Council Mukwaita Shanyengana confirmed Matongo’s death to Nampa.
Before his death, Late Matongo was a Special Advisor to Minister of Veteran Affairs Nickey Iyambo.
He was born on 10 October 1946 in Kabbe village in the Zambezi region.
Late Matongo left behind his wife Helena and five children.
Matongo joined Swapo party in 1964.
Shanyengana told this agency that the party has received Matongo’s death with shock and sadness.
He described late Matongo as a good father, leader and advisor.
President Hifikepunye Pohamba, several Cabinet Ministers, among other government officials rushed to late Matongo’s house at Golgata residential area in Katutura to extend their condolences to the family.
Funeral services will be announced in due course.
