Rundu based lawyer's case postponed to November

RUNDU, 13 SEP (NAMPA) - A Rundu-based defence lawyer, Vernon Mutimani Lutibezi is to appear in a Rundu Magistrate Court for the third time on 28 November 2017 on a charge of malicious damage to property and rape.
Lutibezi who also stands accused of raping a 13 year-old minor made his first appearance last month on 09 August 2017 when he was arrested for allegedly damaging a property belonging to Public Prosecutor Emma Mayavero.
The case was heard on Monday where all the cases were postponed to 28 November 2017 for further investigations.
In his first appearance before Magistrate Sonia Sampofu on 09 August 2017, Lutibezi was granted bail of N.dollars 1 500 on condition that he does not interfere with the complainant.
According to court documents seen by this agency, it is alleged that Lutibezi broke a glass door to Mayavero’s house at Rainbow Village forcing entry into the house of the complainant while she was asleep.
In his second appearance on Tuesday, he is accused of allegedly raping a 13-year-old minor who is believed to be his cousin.
Lutibezi was granted bail of N.dollars 5 000 after his defence lawyer, Advocate Oriental Sibeya questioned the State’s allegation that there was strong evidence in the rape case, adding that it was just a he said a “case with no evidence”.
It is alleged that the accused inserted fingers into the minor’s private parts and licked her externally.
