Suspected murderer arrested in Oshikoto

ONGWEDIVA, 10 SEP (NAMPA) – A 33-year-old Angolan man, who fled after allegedly committing murder in the Oshikoto Region’s Omuntele Constituency last Monday, has been arrested.
He was arrested after being run over by a truck on the Ondangwa-Omuthiya road near Onathinge village.
Crime Investigations Coordinator of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the region, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua in a crime report issued on Saturday said the suspect was arrested around 14h45 on the same day.
“He sustained injuries and his right arm was broken. He was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital in a stable condition,” she said.
It is alleged that the suspect stabbed Secilia Tomas (age unknown) several times. The knife he used got stuck in her right arm.
The motive of the crime remains unknown and the relationship between the two is yet to be established.
The identity of the suspect is being withheld as he is yet to appear before court.
In a separate incident in the same region, a pedestrian died on the spot after she was run over by a sedan while crossing the Ondangwa-Omuthiya road near Onyaanya village.
The accident occurred around 20h40 on Friday.
Oshikoto NamPol registered a culpable homicide case docket in connection with this accident.
The deceased is identified as 55-year-old Martha Fillemon from Omatyatya village in the Onyaanya area.
Her next of kin are informed.
