Host Khomas knocked out of Skorpion Zinc Cup

WINDHOEK, 10 SEP (NAMPA) – Host Khomas on Saturday failed to make it out of the group stages of the Skorpion Zinc Under-17 Cup after failing to beat Erongo and Kavango West Region in their encounters.
Fourteen regional U-17 teams are competing in the youth competition, which is being held in Windhoek at the Sam Nujoma Stadium and Namibia Football Association technical centre.
The semi-final position of the championship will be contested by Kavango West, Kavango East, Erongo and defending champions, Omusati.
Kavango East became the first team to book their semi-final place in the Skorpion Zinc U-17 Cup after coming out top of Group C, while Omusati finished as Group A winner and Erongo, who were in Group B with five teams, finished winners after defeating Khomas 1-0 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Kavango East who were in the same group as Erongo defeated Khomas and Ohangwena to finish as runner-up on eight points and booked themselves a place in the semi-finals.
The action was set to continue on Sunday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium with Group A winners Omusati facing Group B runner-up Kavango East in the first semi-finals at 08h00.
Group B winner Erongo takes on Group C winners Kavango West at 09h15. The third place play-off match will be at 12h00, with the final set for 13h15.
