WINDHOEK, 05 SEP (NAMPA) The senior national netball team is ready to win at the DebMarine Namibia Pent Series, team captain Anna Kasper has said.
The five nation netball tournament will be held in Windhoek from Tuesday until Sunday.
The competition will see host Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Swaziland battle it out for ranking points over five days at the Israel Patrick Iyambo Police College in Olympia.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, Kasper said the tournament means a lot to the Namibian team that wants to improve its ranking in Africa and globally.
We are currently 90 per cent ready to win games at the championship. I want to call on our fellow Namibians to come in numbers and cheer the team on while we fight to realise our dream of improving our ranking, she said.
She added that the competition will also help the players to gain more experience at international level.
Earlier this year we played against some of these teams in Uganda and I am confident that at the Pent Series, we will win against them because the team has prepared well and worked on some of the mistakes that cost us games in Uganda, said Kasper.
Namibias senior national netball team made its return to the International Netball Federation (INF) world rankings after competing in the Africa Senior National Netball Championship in Kampala, Uganda in June this year.
