OTJIWARONGO, 05 SEP (NAMPA) - A 51-year-old man died on the spot after the sedan he was driving overturned near Okahandja Monday afternoon.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on enquiry Tuesday the deceased has been identified as Alfeus Amukoto.
His relatives have been informed of his death, she said.
Mbeha said Amukoto lost control over the vehicle on a gentle curve some 4 kilometres north of Okahandja at about 17h20.
He was driving from the direction of Otjiwarongo towards Okahandja.
He was a member of the Namibian Defence Force.
In a separate accident, the 46-year-old Veronica Kheimses died on the way to the Okahandja State Hospital on Monday after a pick-up vehicle she was travelling in overturned approximately 35 kilometres north of Okahandja.
Kheimses was driving to Windhoek with her husband and five children.
Mbeha said the husband allegedly tried to overtake a truck and lost control over the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Okahandja police have opened culpable homicide dockets in both matters.
