OTJIWARONGO, 04 SEP (NAMPA) – A public information sharing session is planned for Tuesday to discuss matters of health and the safety of patients in the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
Hundreds of Otjiwarongo residents are expected to attend the meeting at the Swanevelder Community Hall in Orwetoveni.
Otjiwarongo Constituency Councillor, Julius Neumbo on Monday told Nampa the meeting will start at 17h00 and is expected to go on until late.
He said some top officials in the Ministry of Health and Social Services will attend the session to take note of the public’s concerns and provide answers where possible.
Members of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region are also expected to be present.
“We have received complaints from the general public about the lack of security of patients at the hospital and this will be discussed on Tuesday,” he said.
Neumbo said some residents shared their concerns with him after members of a gang last year entered the State hospital here armed with knives.
Community members are also unhappy about the alleged bad attitude of some nurses at the hospital and the unavailability of ambulances.
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will also present information on the Nationhood and National Pride campaign and song competition.
Neumbo invited talented Namibian artists to attend the presentation.
Entrants to the competition are expected to compose and produce a song in English under the theme ‘My Namibia, My Country, My Pride’.
The ministry as the custodian of the Nationhood and National Pride campaign, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, organised the competition to boost national identity, pride and nation building.
