Unlicensed drunk driver suspect kills baby in Kuisebmond

WALVIS BAY, 31 AUG (NAMPA) - A four-year-old toddler had her life cut short when a car ran her over on Wednesday afternoon in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay.
The 33-year-old suspect in this case was allegedly unlicensed and was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, on Thursday reported that the accident happened at around 14h20 in Sitrien Street.
He identified the deceased as Shariqua Vania Fredericks, who was found sitting on the pavement with another kid when the car hit her.
Kikuyu said the victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and died later.
The suspect was arrested and charged with culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving as well as driving a vehicle without a driver’s licence.
He is expected in court on Friday.
