WINDHOEK, 19 AUG (NAMPA) – A man died in an accident near the Windhoek Correctional Facility Friday night.
The accident involved a taxi driven by a 41-year-old man, a sedan driven by a 35-year-old woman and a City Police minibus.
A man who was in the taxi, whose identity is yet to be established, died on the spot.
Five other persons - four from the taxi and one from the minibus - sustained serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi confirmed the accident on Saturday, saying it took place along Mahatma Ghandi Street around 22h30.
It is alleged that the minibus was driving from east to west when the sedan driven by a woman, came from the opposite direction and sideswiped the minibus.
The woman lost control over the vehicle and drove into the taxi that was behind the minibus.
Police investigations continue.
