Man dies after being hit by car while lying on the road

ONGWEDIVA, 14 AUG (NAMPA) – A man was run over by a car whilst lying on a road in the Oniipa Constituency at 20h50 on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mulanduleni Jona, age unknown, from the Ondando village in the Oniipa Constituency, said Namibian Police Force Oshikoto Crime Investigations Coordinator, Naomi Katjiua in a crime report on Monday.
The incident happened on the Eenhana-Ondangwa main road near the Olumbongo location, not far from the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital.
“It is alleged that the driver of a silver Colt sedan, identified as David Kambonde, aged 43, ran over a pedestrian who was lying on the road. The victim died on the spot,” Katjiua stated.
A docket of culpable homicide was opened.
The Oshikoto Police on Saturday also registered a case of reckless and negligent driving against the driver of a pickup who overturned the vehicle after losing control over it.
The incident occurred at 18h00 near the Heroes’ Private School on the Ondangwa-Omuthiya main road.
The driver is admitted in the intensive care unit of the Onandjokwe Hospital.
“The two passengers are admitted to the same hospital with multiple injuries, but in stable conditions,” Katjiua explained.
The driver was identified as 68-year-old Tomas Johannes and the passengers as Hileni Mvula, 65, and 53-year-old Hilma Shigwedha.
Police investigations into the two incidents continue.
