Four men arrested for stabbing a bartender

RUNDU, 07 AUG (NAMPA) – Four men were arrested Saturday in Keetmanshoop after they allegedly stabbed a bartender and fired random shots.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said in the weekly crime report issued on Sunday the 21, 22, 25 and 26-year-old men allegedly demanded alcohol at Zinedine Bar in Tseiblaagte, when the 30-year-old bartender refused.
Shikwambi said the encounter escalated between 14h00 and 15h00 when the four allegedly stabbed the bartender with a knife in the right shoulder. One of them fired shots at the floor and ceiling, resulting in some damages.
The firearm was confiscated and police investigations continue.
Shikwambi said they were arrested for public violence, discharging a firearm in a municipal area, assault, and malicious damage to property.
In a separate matter on Saturday, three men in Aroab of the //Kharas Region allegedly raped a 35-year-old woman at about 00h15.
Shikwambi said it is alleged the victim was having drinks with the men when they locked the door of the house in the New Extension residential area and took turns having sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The trio aged 27, 28 and 23 were arrested.
Police investigations continue.
In the Hardap Region, two people burnt beyond recognition in Rehoboth's Block E residential area on Saturday.
Shikwambi said the house they were sleeping in caught fire around midnight and burnt into the early hours of Sunday.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Another person burnt in a fire in Lüderitz’s Amilema area in the //Kharas Region on Saturday evening when the shack she was sleeping in caught fire.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The woman has been identified as Frida Enkali and her next of kin have been informed.
Investigations continue.
