Swapo women should lead with integrity: Mbumba

WINDHOEK, 05 AUG (NAMPA) – Swapo Party Secretary-General, Nangolo Mbumba on Saturday officially opened a Swapo Party Women’s Council (SPWC) Central Committee meeting saying, members should lead with integrity and discipline.
The SPWC CC meeting behind closed doors comes ahead of the party congress slated for later this year.
Mbumba said as part of redressing economic imbalances, the women’s council must identify discipline and integrity as supreme qualities for leadership.
He said leadership is not about glorious acts but keeping the party focused and laying the groundwork for others’ success.
Mbumba called on the council to be cognisant of economic inequalities and issues in job-security, health, affordable housing and education that women face in Namibia.
The SG noted that although structural downsizing, due to falling commodities and currency fluctuations has overwhelmed the global economy, Namibia has no choice but to adjust its fiscal policies and expenditures accordingly.
“This does not mean that we are financially broke but rather being financially prudent in order to safeguard the country’s financial resources and guard them from bankruptcy,” he said.
The media was immediately excused from the meeting for it to continue behind closed doors.
