Swartbooi accuses Swapo Party of tribalism

WINDHOEK, 27 JUL (NAMPA) - Recalled former Swapo party member of parliament Bernadus Swartbooi has accused the party of being tribal for not charging other members who went against party rules.
“Why is Swapo not dealing with Omusati Region Governor Erginus Endjala and Omuntele Councillor Sacky Nangula for their tribal remarks, amongst others? It is simply because they are Oshiwambo speaking people, so there is no question that this is not a one-tribe party,' he reasoned.
Swartbooi accused party leaders from top to bottom of landing the country in a crisis through corruption.
“We have political leaders who have allocated themselves millions worth of land on farms which are not on their ancestral land. Mr Utoni Nujoma also knows this. We have proof of this. At a later stage, I will provide it,” he added.
Swartbooi, who referred to himself as a former “labourer” at his previous position as a deputy minister of Land Reform, added that the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) will find ways to fight corruption and tribalism.
He emphasised that although his life is now going to be dearly dedicated to the LPM, he has no intentions of making it a political party or forming other political parties for that matter.
“It would be better for us to work harder for our people, because we are no longer in any political party. We’ll work harder towards the upcoming land conference, among other things,” he added.
