OTJIWARONGO, 25 JUL (NAMPA) - The Otjozondjupa Region and some parts of the Kunene Region will experience power outages on 06 August, possibly for the whole day, due to maintenance work.
A joint statement issued by the Central North Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) and NamPower on Monday said most of the major towns, villages and settlements in Otjozondjupa will not have electricity on 06 August this year.
In the Kunene Region, areas such as Fransfontein, Khorixas, Kamanjab, Outjo and Okaukuejo will be affected from 06h00 until 18h00 the same day.
This is due to the annual technical maintenance work to be done on the Gerus electricity equipment, which powers most of these areas, Cenored Public Relations Officer, Charlie Matengu said.
The Gerus Power Station is situated about 32 kilometres north-west of Otjiwarongo.
Matengu urged the public to treat all electricity cables and wires as live, since the electricity could be switched on without prior notification.
