OTJIWARONGO, 25 JUL (NAMPA) - The Monica Geingos Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Otjiwarongo on Monday received N.dollars 10 000 from the Central North Regional Electricity Distributor (Cenored) to support the school’s holiday classes in August.
Cenored Public Relations Officer, Charlie Matengu handed over the donation to the school.
He said the school approached Cenored last month, seeking help with the hosting of the holiday classes.
Rikambura Kaura, the head of department, who received the cheque told Nampa the extra classes will take place at the school over two weeks in August.
It is only for Grade 10 learners.
Kaura said the money received will be used to buy food for the learners.
“They will have two sessions a day, from 07h00 to 13h00 and from 14h00 until 16h00,” she said.
Kaura said the classes will be more intense than normal lessons to help the learners understand certain topics better and also to give those who struggle to understand, the chance to catch up with the other learners.
Monica Geingos JSS was officially opened in 2015.
The school has 17 teachers and 435 learners from Grade 8 to Grade 10.
First Lady Monica Geingos is the patron of the school.
