WINDHOEK, 21 JUL (NAMPA) A man was arrested Thursday evening at the Omupupa village in the Nehale lyampingana Constituency after he allegedly stabbed and killed another man during an argument over N.dollars 10.
A daily crime report issued on Friday by Oshikoto Region Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua said the deceased, a 26-year old Angolan, and the suspect were drinking at a cuca shop when an argument broke out over the money which belonged to the suspect.
According to the report, the deceased allegedly slapped the suspect, who in return retaliated by stabbing him with an Okapi knife on the left side of his chest.
The Angolan man died on the spot and the suspect was arrested.
His next of kin are not yet informed, and his identity is being withheld until they have been notified.
Police investigations continue.
One week ago, a man died at Sesfontein in the Kunene Region after he sustained severe head injuries during a fight with a 41-year-old man over N.dollars 10.
Police said Joas Mupeu, 46, sustained the injuries when he fell and hit his head against the concrete floor in a bar.
Meanwhile, the boy who died after he was run over by a pick-up on the Western Bypass in Windhoek on Thursday, has been identified as Andrew Uirab.
Uirab and two of his friends were running across the road when he got hit by the vehicle at around 16h00.
City Police Public Relations Officer, Edmund Khoaseb told Nampa on Friday the boy was a pupil at the AI Steenkamp Primary School and lived with his grandmother at Gemeende residential area in Katutura.
