WINDHOEK, 18 JUL (NAMPA) – Pensioners and people with disabilities who receive monthly grants from Government, will get their increased grants next month.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, I-Ben Natangwe Nashandi announced this in a media statement issued late Monday.
Government earlier this year increased monthly grants for the elderly and people with disabilities with N.dollars 100 from N.dollars 1 100 effective from 01 in April this year.
The statement said the enactment of the Appropriation Act of 2017 has now been finalised and all beneficiaries will receive N.dollars 1 200 from August. Recipients will also get back-pay of N.dollars 400 for the months of April, May, June and July. This means that for the month of August they will receive a once-off grant of N.dollars 1 600.
From September onwards beneficiaries will receive N.dollars 1 200 each.
The ministry appealed for such grants to be used for the welfare of the beneficiaries and their families.
