SWAKOPMUND, 07 JUL (NAMPA) – A 57-year-old man died after being thrown off a donkey cart in the Omatjete area on Wednesday.
A police incident report issued by Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu of the Namibian Police Force in Erongo on Friday said Emil Urinavi was thrown off when the cart drove over a rock.
He hit his head against a rock when he fell, causing his death.
Urinavi dropped off his father at the Otjiozondjou village Wednesday night at around 19h00 and the accident happened close to his home.
His body was only discovered on Thursday at around 09h30 by neighbours.
It was taken to the Walvis Bay Police morgue for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile in Walvis Bay, Immanuel Maurisius died on Tuesday after he was allegedly attacked by four unknown men on Saturday.
The 34-year-old Maurisius died in hospital, where he was taken by family members immediately after the assault.
Iikuyu said the family only reported the assault on Tuesday, after Maurisius died.
Nobody has been arrested yet and police investigations continue.
Iikuyu warned that the public should report crimes timeously so the police can take immediate action.
