OTJIWARONGO, 02 JUL (NAMPA) - A one-year-old baby boy died instantly after he was run over by a reversing vehicle at Otjituuo village in the Okakarara Constituency Saturday night.
The baby has been identified as Golden Vanduavawa Musunga.
His relatives have been informed, said spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Sunday.
Mbeha told Nampa the driver of the vehicle allegedly did not see the crawling Musunga because it was dark outside.
The babys mother was at the time of the accident admitted at the local hospital and had asked a relative to look after her son.
In a separate matter, Christiaan Seibeb, 55, died on Saturday morning at about 10h00 after the small pick-up vehicle he was driving rolled several times on the Otjiwarongo-Kalkfeld road.
Mbeha said the relatives of Seibeb have been informed of his death.
Seibeb was alone in the vehicle.
Police preliminary investigations indicate that Seibeb might have lost control over the vehicle, causing it to roll approximately 20 kilometres north-east of Kalkfeld.
The vehicle was coming from the direction of Otjiwarongo.
Police investigations continue.
