NYC to hold fourth RC meeting at Tsumeb

RUNDU, 29 JUN (NAMPA) – The National Youth Council (NYC) will convene its fourth Representative Council (RC) meeting at Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region from Friday to Saturday.
The RC is the second highest consultative, policy and decision-making body of the NYC when the General Assembly is not in session.
Different issues affecting the youth will be discussed during the meeting, including the National Youth Policy which is currently under review.
Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila is expected to deliver the keynote address at this meeting.
A statement to the media on Wednesday, says the meeting will be attended by 62 delegates from different youth organisations affiliated to the NYC, including 14 chairpersons of regional youth forums and NYC board members.
The statement indicates that youth organisations will also report on their past activities, including financial reports and present their annual plans for the 2017/18 fiscal year.
In addition, the meeting will provide a platform for the RC to be briefed on Namibia’s participation at the World Festival of Democratic Youth to be held in Sochi, Russia, in October.
The statement adds that Namibia will send a delegation of about 200 young people to the festival, where 150 of them will travel from Namibia while 50 will be drawn from those living in Russia.
The RC meeting will be taking place in Tsumeb for the first time. The last one was held n Mariental, Hardap Region in October 2016.
