Young girl allegedly raped by member of VIP Protection Unit

WINDHOEK, 27 OCT (NAMPA) – A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a member of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s VIP Protection Unit at Groot Aub on Saturday.
The Head of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s public relations division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said at a media briefing here on Sunday the incident is said to have occurred at around 19h55 at the Auseb River bridge.
The suspect has been arrested.
In a separate incident, a 14-year-old girl was raped in Rosh Pinah on Saturday. The alleged rape took place at the Tutungeni residential area in the town, and a 32-year-old man will appear in court at Lüderitz in connection with the matter on Monday.
At Outapi in the Omusati Region, the police are investigating a case of murder after a newborn baby boy was dumped at a water canal which runs between the Omahila and Omhuku villages in the Outapi constituency.
Learners from the Omahila Combine School found the baby’s body on Saturday at around 14h30 and alerted the police.
No arrests were made and police investigations continue.
