KEETMANSHOOP, 27 OCT (NAMPA) - The police in Keetmanshoop are searching for a suspect in connection with the murder of a 46-year-old man here on Friday.
A resident came across the body of Augustinus Joseph lying between Koppieslaagte and Kronlein between 19h00 and 20h00, and contacted the police.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Crime Investigations Coordinator in the //Karas Region, Rudolf Isaak told Nampa on Sunday nobody has been arrested in connection with Joseph’s murder yet.
He said the deceased was stabbed once in the heart with a sharp object, causing his death on the spot.
“We do not have any leads as yet,” Isaak stated.
The area where the body was found is very bushy and gets very dark at night as there are no lights.
Isaak said he believes the suspect took advantage of the darkness in the area to stab Joseph and disappear.
“The family members of the deceased told us that he had a cellphone but the police did not find it at the scene of crime, thus we suspect the suspect took it,” he noted.
Anyone with information which could lead to the arrest of the culprit is requested to contact the police.
