WINDHOEK, 14 JUN (NAMPA) - Walter ‘The Executioner’ Kautondokwa’s fight against Ghana’s Obodai ‘The Miracle’ Sai has been upgraded to a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title eliminator.
The Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy said in a media statement on Wednesday the two boxers will now fight for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa title in addition to Kautondokwa defending his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Middleweight Belt against Sai.
The statement said the winner of this fight will automatically get into the top five WBO world rankings and stand an excellent chance to fight for the world title in the coming months.
Kautondokwa is currently ranked 10 by the WBO and is the current WBO Africa Middleweight champion, while Sai is ranked 12 by the WBO and is the current WBO Interim Africa champion.
Kautondokwa and his team (trainer and promoter, Nestor Tobias and trainer Joseph Antindi) arrived in Ghana on Monday and he has declared that he is ready for the fight.
Before his departure, Kautondokwa was quoted as saying he was excited.
“I know it will be tough in Accra, I expect a tough fight and intimidating crowd but we have planned nothing but a victory,” he said.
He has a record of 14 fights without a defeat, while his opponent has 34 fights; 32 wins and two losses.
The Kautondokwa-Sai fight will take place at the newly built Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
