SAN ANTONIO, 13 JUN (NAMPA) - Multiple award-winning musician Elemotho and saxophonist Suzy Eises have been selected to take part in the 5th Annual International Music Festival in San Antonio, United States of America.
The festival will be held from 27 January to 04 February 2018, and is organised by the Musical Bridges Around the World organisation.
Its Director of Development and Marketing, Suhail Arastu said the two were selected as part of the partnership between San Antonio and Windhoek signed in 2016 to promote economic cooperation and trade, tourism; and cooperation in renewable energy and water.
“Our Sister cities are around globe but our only sister city in Africa is Windhoek. So we are excited to combine our artists from there with artists from Japan, China, India, Mexico and Germany,” he told Nampa Tuesday.
All cities that have a sister city relationship with San Antonio will be part of the festival.
The two Namibian artists will be part of workshops and master classes through the festival’s partnership with academic institutions in San Antonio.
The festival will feature close to 15 international artists.
“With the International Music Festival, what we aim to do is to showcase the world here in San Antonio,” Arastu said.
Invited artists will be part of a jazz ensemble.
