WINDHOEK, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob has called on Swapo Party cadres to always put people first and before individual interests to fulfil the party’s promises of transforming Namibia into a developed nation.
Geingob made the remarks when he opened the Swapo Party Central Committee meeting here Saturday.
“As we prepare to engage each other in comradely deliberations, let us ensure that we keep that thought at the forefront of our minds.”
He said Swapo Party cadres should continue ensuring that Government remains dedicated and committed to improving the quality of life of all Namibians.
Geingob added that Namibia has entered the second phase of the struggle and is looking to the ruling party’s leadership to steer it towards the attainment of economic emancipation.
People’s attention has now turned towards economic prosperity, people want food, decent shelter and clothes, Geingob said.
He made it clear that Swapo will never compromise principles which include unifying the people of Namibia, irrespective of race, religion, sex or ethnic origin, into a democratic, vibrant and peace-loving nation.
The principles further include fighting under development, poverty, illiteracy and disease while promoting the acceleration and links between the primary and secondary sectors of the economy.
Self-reliance and the upliftment of the standard of living of majority Namibians is also emphasised.
