Brave Warriors acclimatising in Bissau

WINDHOEK, 07 JUN (NAMPA) – The Brave Warriors on Wednesday held their first training session in Guinea-Bissau ahead of their crucial opening 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group K opener on Sunday at the Estadio 24 de Setembro.
A media release availed to Nampa by the Namibia Football Association said the national football team’s head coach, Ricardo Mannetti said he is happy that Petrus Shitembi, Willem Mwedihanga and Benson Shilongo have joined the team.
They trained with the team after joining late following their club commitments over the weekend.
“Wangu Gome also joined the training session after he sat out the friendly matches that we played in Ghana. Captain Ronald Katjijere will join the team on Friday,” he said.
Mannetti said they expect a tough game in Guinea-Bissau, but remained focus on a favourable result.
He said Guinea-Bissau will be playing at home in front of their supporters, but was quick to note that his team have the experience to handle the situation.
“We don’t want to lose our opening game and we shall remain focused to ensure we get off to a good start in this qualification,” he added.
The Brave Warriors are competing in Group K, against Zambia, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau.
Mannetti will announce the match-day 18 on Friday after assessing the captain as well.
