Pensioner arraigned for rape of teen

WINDHOEK, 07 JUN (NAMPA) – A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 67-year-old man at Iiyungo village in the Oshana Region on Tuesday.
The Namibian Police Force’s Head of Public Relations, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi confirmed the incident in the daily crime report issued on Wednesday.
According to Kanguatjivi, the suspect - who is a neighbour to the victim - allegedly dragged her to his room and removed her clothes before having sexual intercourse with the minor.
The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
In a separate incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her biological father at Omindamba village near Outapi in the Omusati Region on Tuesday.
Kanguatjivi said the suspect had sexual intercourse with the minor at their house.
No arrest was made and the police investigation continues.
In the Kavango West Region, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old boy at Katji na Katji village on Saturday.
The suspect allegedly called the victim to his room and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The suspect was arrested but was later released into his parents’ care. He is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
A 14-year-old Grade 7 learner at Ombandjele Combined School was allegedly raped by an adult suspect, age unknown, in Outapi on Monday.
The suspect allegedly promised to give the victim money in return to have sex with her, to which the victim reportedly agreed.
Kanguatjivi said the suspect allegedly had sex with the victim twice and gave her N.dollars 20.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday for statutory rape and police investigations continue.
