WINDHOEK, 31 MAY (NAMPA) – Former World Boxing Association (WBA) Lightweight world champion, Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses could be in line for another shot at a world title.
A media statement availed to Nampa by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy on Tuesday said Moses has moved one spot up in the World Boxing Organisation’s (WBO) latest world ratings to position four.
Moses’s camp said it will motivate for a world title eliminator with the WBO for his next fight, arguing that he has a boxing pedigree worthy of another shot to become a world champion.
WBO world champion, Terry Flanagan will be expected to make his mandatory defence against world number one, Felix Verdejo, in his next fight and that throws the possibility open of a world title fight for Moses.
Moses’s camp said they will push to have him fight in the elimination round with any of the top five rated boxers in his weight class.
The elimination rounds see top ranked boxers fight against each other and the winner then challenge the champion for the title.
“I have no doubt that this time he will at least get a chance to fight for another world title, and of course anything can happen once he does,” said Moses’s promoter, Nestor Tobias.
Moses, in the same media statement, said he is delighted to be rated amongst the best in the world in the lightweight division.
He said it took him seven years to clinch his first world title, but lost it in 2010.
“In 2017, my dream is to get another world title,” he said.
The boxer added that it takes patience, perseverance, hard work and commitment to fight for world titles.
