Man dies in truck and pick-up collision

RUNDU, 30 MAY (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old man died on the spot when a pick-up he was driving collided head-on with a truck at the Shamahohi village in the Kavango East Region on Tuesday.
Namibian Police Force Crime Investigations Coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bob Kanyetu told Nampa on Tuesday the incident took place at about 06h30.
The deceased has been identified as Boitumelo Richard Basapeng of the Utokota village in the Mashare Constituency.
“It is alleged the driver of the pick-up lost control over his vehicle and drove into the truck, causing the crash,” Kanyetu explained.
The truck driver, traveling in the opposite direction, survived the crash unhurt.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
