WINDHOEK, 27 MAY (NAMPA) – A member of the Swapo Party Central Committee called on the alliance’s structures to keep the party strong and healthy to maintain the stability for Namibia’s growth and future development.
Speaking at a public lecture titled “Swapo the formative year” on Saturday, Ben Amathila explained that stability is the cornerstone of the country’s growth and future development.
He noted that when Namibia gained independence in 1990, the cream of all those who had the experience of being abroad and exposure to other experiences, went to State institutions.
This left the Party almost alone and with newcomers who did not understand the function of the party and its future role in guiding Government, in guiding the country, he said.
“Swapo has become the people and the people has become Swapo. And should the party one day start sneezing the whole people of Namibia will start sneezing as well,” Amathila warned.
He called on Swapo staff of the party school, which is headed by Marco Hausiku, to ensure the ruling party remains relevant and maintained for Namibia's development.
