Friend kills friend over cigarette at Khorixas: Police

WINDHOEK, 26 MAY (NAMPA) - An argument over a cigarette that later degenerated into a fistfight between two long-time friends at Khorixas on Thursday, ended with knife stabbing and the death of one of the two men involved.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force Chief Inspector, Kauna Shikwambi said In a media statement on Friday that the incident took place around 00h30 when the two men were at the Amire Bar in the Kunene Region.
It is alleged the deceased hit the accused with a fist in the face and in retaliation; the accused pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed his friend in the neck.
The deceased, 23-year-old Carmen Virgil Duwe was immediately rushed to a local hospital and declared dead upon arrival there.
The accused, also of the same age, was arrested and is assisting the police investigating team.
Duwe's next of kin have been informed, said Shikwambi.
The accused, who is now in police custody, is expected to make his first appearance in the Khorixas Magistrate's Court to answer to a charge of murder on Monday.
