Rehoboth hosts Edward Wambo tournament

REHOBOTH, 26 MAY (NAMPA) – The Rehoboth Urban East Constituency will this weekend host its first 'Edward Wambo Tournament', named after its constituency councillor.
Tournament organiser, Lonny Rooinasie told Nampa after the draw on Thursday the reason for the tournament is to raise funds to upgrade the football field in Block E, one of the town’s residential area.
Rooinasie urged businesses in Rehoboth to assist with the upgrade of the football field.
The tournament consists of two categories, namely the open section for league and non-league teams and the Old Crocks section for teams with players aged 38 and above.
The teams paid N.dollars 550 as registration.
The winner in the open section will walk away with N.dollars 5 000 and 18 gold medals; the runner-ups will get N.dollars 3000 and 18 gold medals.
Both semi-final losers will each pocket N.dollars 1000.
The Old Crocks section winner will walk away with N.dollars 2000 and 18 gold medals, runner-ups N.dollars 1000 and the third place team N.dollars 750.
The tournament is set to become an annual event.
