Debmarine Namibia Cup draw on Monday

WINDHOEK, 25 MAY (NAMPA) – The 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 16 draw is slated for Monday, with top Namibia Premier League football clubs hoping for better opponents.
The competition that is run by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) started in February with elimination round matches before moving to the Round of 32 in April.
Come Monday, teams will know who they will face in their attempt to claim the first ever edition of the Debmarine Namibia Cup.
In a statement availed to Nampa on Thursday the NFA said football clubs (FC) like Tura Magic, Outjo Academy, Life Fighters and Young Beauties are hard at work ahead of the exciting and lucrative draw that will be held at the United Nations (UN) Plaza’s Amphitheatre in Katutura.
The statement said Outjo FC will for the first time advance into the Last-16 of the flagship competition of the NFA.
“Outjo FC were giant killers in their match against United Stars. After a one-all draw, the boys from Kunene trounced Stars 5-4 on penalties.
“The big guns in the Debmarine Namibia Cup Last-16 are UNAM FC, Young Chiefs, Eleven Arrows, Tura Magic and Mighty Gunners as seasoned campaigners in the top flight for the past season, but they will not underestimate the mettle of Outjo Academy, Life Fighters, Young African and Young Beauties, amongst others.”
The statement quoted NFA Secretary-General, Barry Rukoro saying that since the start of the competition they promised a lot and fans have so far experienced huge excitement through the goals galore and indeed N.dollars 18,000 incentives for clubs in every round.
“Going forward, things are getting hotter and better and fierce and we expect only the best from the clubs and urge fans to witness this competition at the stadiums with us,” he said.
Teams that will be in the bowl for the 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 16 are: Mighty Gunners, Outjo Academy, Young African, Gendev FC, Rundu Chiefs, Life Fighters, Young Beauties, UNAM FC, Young Chiefs, Eleven Arrows, Touch & Go, Tura Magic, Civics, Bee Bob Brothers, Eastern Chiefs and Try Again.
