Zambian woman arrested for cannabis possession

WINDHOEK, 23 MAY (NAMPA) – A 26 year-old Zambian woman was Monday arrested in possession of cannabis at the Wenela Border Post near Katima Mulilo.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Head of Public Relations, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said in a police report issued on Tuesday that the woman was arrested at around 12h00 when found with 660 grammes of cannabis valued at N.dollars 6 600.
She is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court soon.
In a separate incident but in the same region, a 40-year-old Zambian man drowned Monday morning while fishing in the Siingwe Malongo Channel.
His next of kin have not yet been informed and police investigations continue.
In the Omaheke Region at the Gobabis Air-Strip on Monday, a man of an unknown age died after a machine attached to a tractor he was operating ripped off his arm.
It is alleged the deceased was operating a tractor with an attachment used to cut grass.
Kanguatjivi said the deceased’s jacket hooked on the machine when he changed the level of the attachment and was killed in the process.
His next of kin have not yet been informed and police investigations continue.
